Uploading a List – Real Magnet Redesign

Very little has changed with regards to uploading lists into Real Magnet.

To upload a list, click the Contacts tab and you’re taken to the Contacts Home Page, featuring Real Magnet’s new grid view format.  These grids are found throughout the new interface, perhaps most notably on the home pages of each Real Magnet tab.   The screen shots below compare the old and new Contacts Home Pages:

You’ll also note that the function buttons previously located at the top of the Contacts Home Page have been relocated to a left navigation pane creating a cleaner and more organized work space.

From the Contacts Home Page, click the Upload Data link in the left hand side navigation and you’re taken to the Upload Data page.

  • Click the Browse button and browse your hard-drive for the .CSV file you want to upload (be sure the .CSV file is not still open in Excel and that the file name contains no spaces, dashes, or special characters).
  • If you are uploading the list into a new group, select the Add to New Group option and a text box will appear.  Input the name of the new group into the text box and click Submit.
  • If you are uploading the list into an existing group, select Add to Existing Group and a grid of your Available Groups is displayed (see screen shot above).  Select the group you want to upload the list into and click Submit.  This takes you to the Map Fields page.

Map Fields

The Map Fields page is where you match the fields of the .CSV file with the fields in your Real Magnet database.  The .CSV field labels are displayed in the left-hand column, and the Real Magnet database fields are displayed in pull-down menus in the right hand column.  Simply match the .CSV field labels on the left with the corresponding Real Magnet fields in the pull-down menus on the right.

Next, select whether you want to Add to existing or new group, or Replace existing list and click Submit.

Before the list is uploaded, you’re presented with a review page.  Click Submit if the attributes of your upload are correct.

At this point, the list upload process begins and you’ll see an interim page.  You can stay on this page, or navigate away.  YOUR UPLOAD WILL NOT BE EFFECTED IF YOU NAVIGATE AWAY!  If you stay, you’ll see a list upload confirmation page (like the one below) once the list is uploaded successfully.

If you navigate away, you can see the status of the upload under the Tools Section by selecting the Report link in the left navigation pane, and selecting the Upload & Export Job Status link.
