Grid View Format – Real Magnet Redesign

Welcome to the new Real Magnet interface!  The new graphic look is more modern and clean.  We’ve also leveraged the full width of the browser and added a main navigation pane on the left side of every page.

You can see the full impact of these changes by comparing the main content editing page of the old and new interfaces:

Introduction of the Grids

In addition to a new graphic look, Real Magnet’s work flow has been improved.  The most significant change is the introduction of grids to many pages in the application. These grids are found throughout the new interface, perhaps most notably on the home pages of each Real Magnet tab.   The screen shots below compare the old and new Messages Home Pages:

Managing Grid Columns

You control what information is displayed in any grid.  The columns are customizable and can be added or removed by selecting the Add/Remove Columns iconadd.remove located in upper right portion of the page.  From the pop-in menu, select the columns you want displayed and deselect the ones you want hidden.  The page will update after you click  Submit.

Resize Grid

Columns can be repositioned by dragging and dropping them to your desired location. And you can sort the data by any column (ascending or descending) by clicking on the column label.

Filtering Grid by Search Terms

But sometimes the grids may give you too much information.  What if you need a message (or group, or tracking report, or other asset) and don’t have the time to sift through a long your assets to find it?  Solution:  use the new search feature – located in the upper right corner – to filter the grid by a search term(s).  Simply insert a search term, click the search icon search-icon , and any asset not containing the search term is filtered out.  The search encompass every word displayed in the grid, including message and template names, message type, created by login, and much more.

The example below shows a search for the term “attend”:

Managing Grid Assets

Functionality in the upper left portion of the grid performs the same functions as the Home Page pull-down menus in the old interface. And here’s the real beauty of the redesign: Once you get beyond the grid and left side navigation, everything is exactly the same!

Createnew

To Create a new message (or other assets such as group, survey, event, etc.) input a name into the field provided, click GO.  In the case of messages, you’re taken to the Template Selection page, as usual.

To Edit a message (or other asset), either click one time on the message line item and click the Edit button edit-button, or click the message line item twice .  You’re taken to main editing page for that message.

To do a Save As, click once on the message (or other asset) you want to copy, click the Save As save-as-icon button, and a pop-in will appear where you add a name for the new copy.  Click Submit and the new copy is saved.

To Delete a message, click once on the message (or other asset) you want to delete click the Delete delete-button button, and a pop-in will appear confirming the deletion.  Click Delete and the asset will be deleted.

Click the new Details detials-button icon and a pop-in is displayed with top line information. The options available will vary based on the module.  The Messages Details pop-in, for example, shows theses functions:

Paired Grids for Selecting Groups, Messages, and Other Assets

The final work flow upgrade is the use of Paired Grids to select groups, messages, and other assets in the new interface. Common examples of when you’ll use paired grids is sending a message to groups, adding a recipient to a groups, and selecting certain parameters for an advanced search.

Let’s use sending a message to a group as an example. In the previous interface, you selected the groups by checking the check box associated with the group or groups you wanted to send to.  This was not so easy to manage if your account was populated with many groups.

The new interface gives you a cleaner view of the groups that have been selected. All existing groups in your account will appear under the Available Groups category. Simply check the check box associated with the group(s) you want to send to and they’re automatically populated under the Selected Groups category. To remove a group from Selected Groups, deselect the associated check box and the group is automatically moved back to the Available Groups category. Once you’ve selected the correct groups, click Submit the your message is sent to the sending queue.

The new application leverages the paired grid system for selecting assets. In this instance, you use the paired grids to select the groups you want to send your message to.
